Unity begins with ‘U’

Unity Week NZ • 15-21 March 2024

Welcome to
Unity Week NZ

An initiative established by the Sakinah Community Trust, a not-for-profit led by seven incredible women who lost loved ones in the tragic 15 March Christchurch mosque attacks.

Launched in 2022, Unity Week NZ is a coordinated approach to remember and honour the lives lost, while also promoting a socially cohesive society. We believe that everyone should feel welcome, respected, and loved for who they are and where they come from.

As Hamimah Ahmat, one of our founding members, puts it, "We can achieve peace if we all follow these principles: honouring our similarities, as well as respecting our differences."

Join us in this movement by attending one or all of our local events, or by creating your own event at your school, workplace, or community.

Let's come together over Unity Week NZ and move together towards the socially cohesive society we are all wanting.
